Katie Freeman

Katie Freeman is currently the Branch Manager of the San Diego and Napa offices of R.E. Chaix & Associates, a full service insurance firm. Ms. Majors-Lewis has served as the Judicial Appointments Secretary for the Office of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger from 2007 to 2010; she was the first woman and first person of color to ever hold the position in California. In her work overseeing two insurance offices, she works with brokers and clients to deliver excellent services and quality products, just as the YWCA strives to provide programs that effectively assist women and families in attaining safety, security, and a better quality of life.

From 1993 through 2008, Ms. Freeman was President and Owner of Katie Freeman Insurance Services, specializing in all lines of professional liability, crime, fiduciary and kidnap ransom. She has been a member of the San Diego Chapter of the Professional Women in Insurance since 1988 and a board member of that group since 1990. Katie serves on the steering committee of the San Diego Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation, an organization which helps our community enrich lives by combining the collective strengths of the insurance industry by providing grants, volunteer service, and leadership. Ms. Freeman recently received the Professional Insurance Woman of the Year award.

Katie serves on a number of community boards, including St. Jude’s Hospital; Rachel’s House, Children’s Hospital, San Diego and The Ladle, San Diego, and sponsors five children through World Vision. She received an undergraduate degree from Briarwood College in Southington, Connecticut.
