Maintenance Specialist

Position:  Maintenance Specialist

Reports to: Director of Facilities

Position Overview:

The Maintenance Specialist is responsible for the complete physical repairs and continuing maintenance needs. Interface with on-site Program Managers and Director of Facilities regarding maintenance issues. Troubleshoot and repair basic maintenance problems to include electrical, plumbing and carpentry. Maintain landscape including but not limited to the lawn, trimming hedges and bushes, weeding, watering, and the over all upkeep and cleanliness of building and grounds. Assist Director of Facilities with outside vendors. Assist on-site staff and Director of Facilities with special projects. Ensure accuracy of invoices; assist with receiving and inventory control. Prepare all sites for proper inspection and review by appropriate agencies such as City, County and State to insure compliance with all regulators and funders. On-call for building maintenance emergencies; Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications specific To This Department

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of three (3) years experience in the building maintenance field.
  • General maintenance experience: basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, landscaping, painting, and building maintenance.
  • Current California driver’s license.
  • Flexibility, mature judgment, confidence and ability to relate to a diverse population.
  • Ability to make sound judgment assessments and handle sensitive issues in a mature, confidential manner and with integrity and tact.
  • Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds, operate equipment, such as electrical testing devises, power tools, hand tools, buffing machines and gardening equipment, work around cleaning materials and garden chemicals, able to climb, bend and crawl in order to maintain building and grounds.

Compensation:

Full Time $12.00 an hour, Monday – Friday, (Weekends and Evenings occasionally). Benefits after 90 days: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and retirement plan after two years.
