My Sister's Closet

My Sister's Closet Temporarily Closed
On July 31, 2008, My Sister's Closet, the YWCA's thrift store, closed its doors indefinitely as the building that previously housed the store was sold. My Sister's Closet was opened many years ago to provide an important resource for our clients - women, children and families who are domestic violence survivors, and homeless families and individuals throughout San Diego County. Donors have provided gently used clothing and household items that our clients have accessed through our voucher program. In addition, community donations were received at the store, with net proceeds going directly to support programs and services for women, children and families in need.

As a reminder, we will continue our policy of not accepting in-kind donations at the downtown main office of the YWCA. Until we find a new home for My Sister's Closet, we suggest your donations of gently used clothing and household items be delivered to one of our partner agencies listed below:

1) Deseret Industries - 1773 Broadway, Chula Vista, CA 91911.
Phone: 619-423-2317
2) Catholic Charities - 759 8th Avenue, San Diego, CA 92101.
Phone: 619 231-2828
3) United Cerebral Palsy - 4341 El Cajon Blvd., San Diego, CA 92105. Phone: 858 571-7803

YWCA clients will continue to receive vouchers through a newly formed partnership with Deseret Industries.

Thank you for your understanding and patience during this time of transition. We look forward to your continued support and good will.
