Legal

Confronting the legal system can be confusing and stressful, particularly for survivors of domestic violence. Our experienced legal team can guide you, step by step, through the court system. Just call for an appointment or come to one of our walk-in clinics, located throughout the county. We offer both in pro per assistance and attorney representation (pro bono or on a sliding scale) to address the following situations:

  • Securing domestic violence restraining orders
  • Custody and visitation
  • Child and spousal support
  • Divorce
  • Paternity, and other family law issues
  • Providing information and referrals to counseling, shelter, immigration assistance, and job training

We also provide court escorts and crisis counseling, and our legal team includes individuals who are bilingual.

If you need domestic violence services, but can't come to us - we now come to you!

The YWCA and ACCESS, Inc., a non-profit immigration and employment training agency, offer more than 12 Mobile Domestic Violence Legal Clinics at community agencies and medical clinics throughout San Diego County. The goal is to reach victims who have difficulty accessing domestic violence services because of lack of transportation, lack of knowledge of available resources, cultural barriers and isolation by the abuser.

We hope to stop the violence before it occurs by providing education on domestic violence, legal and immigration assistance, job training, and referrals to domestic violence resources for ongoing support. Mobile Domestic Violence Legal Clinics are held in the North County, East County, South Bay and Central regions.

Call us at 619-239-2341 for details.

In addition to offering legal consultations, we can provide guidance in many areas, including:

  • Job training and employment opportunities
  • Immigration assessments
  • Restraining orders
  • Divorce and spousal support
  • Child support, custody and visitation
  • Immediate counseling and shelter referral

You're not alone! Let us help.
